UFONITE (the “Service”) is committed to respecting your privacy by collecting only the minimum information needed to operate. The Service is anonymous and does not require login or registration.

1. Information We Collect

• Location: When you tap the SIGHTING! button, latitude/longitude is read from the browser Geolocation API and stored as a sighting pin. If you deny the OS permission, no location is sent.
• Submitted content: Optional photos, videos, comments, shape, duration, and other sighting details that you choose to upload.
• Anonymous identifier (visitor_id): A random UUID generated locally and stored in browser localStorage. Used to identify the same device across comments / likes / bookmarks. It contains no personally identifying information.
• Access logs: Page views, referrers, and approximate region collected via Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics 4.

2. Cookies

The Service itself does not set cookies. Settings and the anonymous identifier are stored in the browser's localStorage instead. However, third-party providers (Google AdSense) may set cookies for ad delivery. See Section 4 “Third-Party Services” for details.

3. Browser Storage Keys

localStorage (persistent)

• ufonite_anon_id — anonymous visitor identifier
• ufonite-my-sightings — IDs of your own sightings
• ufonite-locale — language preference (ja / en)
• ufonite-theme — theme preference (dark / light)
• ufonite_reactions_* — like / bookmark cache
• ufonite_comments_* — comments cache

sessionStorage (cleared when tab closes)

• ufonite-map-viewport — map view position and zoom
• ufonite-location-initialized — initial geolocation flag

You can clear these at any time from your browser settings. Doing so will reset the corresponding state.

Note: ufonite-admin* keys are added only when an administrator signs in and are not created for regular users.

4. Third-Party Services

• Supabase — database and storage (sightings, photos, videos, comments)
• Vercel — hosting and analytics
• Mapbox — satellite map rendering
• Google Analytics 4 — usage statistics
• BigDataCloud — reverse geocoding (lat/lng → country/city)
• Resend — email delivery for the contact form
• Google AdSense — ad serving. Google and its third-party vendors use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits. You can disable personalized advertising via Google's Ads Settings.

Please refer to each provider's own privacy policy for details on their handling of data.

5. Public Data

• Submitted sighting data (location, time, photos, videos, comments, shape, duration) is publicly visible to all users of the Service.
• Like / bookmark totals are public, but individual reactions are not attributed.

6. Retention & Deletion

• You may delete your own sightings via the in-app settings. Administrators may also remove content.
• For takedown requests, please contact us via the form below.

7. Children Under 13

The Service is intended for users aged 13 and older. If you are under 13, please use the Service only with parental consent.
